Summary of PhD Program:

The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Social Sciences, working within the discipline of Political Science. Under the direction of Prof. David Howarth, the candidate will have the opportunity of completing a doctoral thesis in the area of the EU Economic Governance and / or the Political Economy of Finance. The intended research can address themes such as the recent institutional development of EU economic governance, Banking Union, the ‘Europeanisation’ of national macro-economic policy making, the development of specific policy areas of EU economic governance (notably, but not only, fiscal policy, macro-economic policy coordination and financial regulation) and, more broadly, political economy approaches to European integration.
