The Ganesh lab is seeking talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow candidates for human genetics studies of vascular disease. We are conducting gene discovery studies using genome sequencing, GWAS and transcript expression profiling methods to understand both common and rare vascular diseases, including fibromuscular dysplasia, arterial dissections, arterial aneurysms, and hypertension. To study the functional consequence of discovered genetic variation, we are using in vitro cellular and in vivo models. Our studies are closely tied to the clinic, with human tissue and blood samples from patients and thus trainees can expect to gain exposure to translational aspects of their research projects as well. We have several data sets and reagents already generated (exome sequencing, GWAS genotyping, cellular and mouse models) that provide a rich opportunity for productivity and publications for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow.

The Center for Social Epidemiology and Population Health (CSEPH) at the University of Michigan (UM) is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to join a NIH-funded project focused on understanding depression and suicide risk over the lifespan. CSEPH is an interdisciplinary population health science center focused on understanding social determinants of health and health inequities. Two of the research strengths within CSEPH pertain to mental health and aging. This project, the Aging, Transitions over the Lifespan and Suicide (ATLAS) Study, examines how major transitions in work, housing, health, and social life relate to suicide risk by leveraging several cohort studies and population-based registries. The person who fills this position will work with an interdisciplinary team of faculty collaborators from Michigan Medicine, the Institute for Social Research (ISR), the School of Public Health (SPH), and the School of Information. The person who fills this position will join a collaborative and productive research team.
