Applications are invited for an experienced and motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate interested in studying various mutually exclusive partner mutations in H3K27M and H3.3G34R gliomas, a type of lethal and incurable brain tumour in children. The aim of this project is to uncover how these different mutations modify interactions between brain tumour cells and their microenvironment (blood vessels, microglia, neurons, astrocytes and infiltrating immune cells). The role will involve a substantial amount of in vivo work so prior expertise in using mouse models¿ in either cancer research or neurobiology research, is essential. In addition, expertise in techniques like FACS/flow cytometry, single-cell genomics and epigenomics, mass cytometry, CyTOF and/or proteomics is highly desirable. These techniques will be important for investigating tumour samples of various genotypes composed of heterogeneous populations of cells, with the aim of deconvolving differences in cell type composition and cell state.

Lithium ion batteries with solid state electrolytes are prone to degradation by a range of mechanisms including dendrite formation, void formation and swell-induced fatigue and micro-cracking. The topology of the battery plays a role over a number of length scales, from macro scale geometry of battery to the microstructural scale of the cathode. The kinetics of plating and stripping of lithium at free surfaces play a major role, along with the role of topology in terms of both performance and failure mechanisms. The University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the research group of Prof. Edmund Kunji at the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit. The post holder will work within a programme focused on mitochondrial transport proteins. Transport processes are crucial for the functioning of mammalian mitochondria and cells. Mutations in transport proteins cause a wide range of metabolic, neuromuscular and developmental diseases. This program, funded by the Citrin Foundation (https://citrinfoundation.org), focuses on citrin deficiency, a phenotypically complex metabolic disease caused by mutations in the mitochondrial aspartate/glutamate carrier, also called citrin. Citrin deficiency is more prevalent in Asia but it is pan-ethnic and an increasing number of patients are being diagnosed across the globe. The goal is to understand the metabolic, bioenergetic and morphological consequences of citrin deficiency by studying the involvement of citrin in cellular processes in healthy and diseased states. The project involves collaborations between different experts on mitochondrial biology within the University of Cambridge and internationally.
