We offer two fellowships associated with a set of related research projects to be conducted in partnership with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) to examine applications of insights from behavioral economics to the design of financial products and services aimed at helping customers take action to reduce carbon emissions and make decisions that improve their financial wellbeing.

Quantum cascade laser pumped molecular lasers (QPMLs) are new sources of THz radiation being developed in the Capasso Group to fill the THz gap (Science 366, 6467 (2019); APL Photonics, 7, 016107 (2022); Appl. Phys Lett. 120, 08110(2022)) which can cover a broad frequency range from a few hundred GHz to several THz, depending on the gas used for the gain medium. A postdoctoral scholar is sought to investigate various paths to optimize the current performance of QPMLs.

The candidate will join a team that includes graduate students, researchers, and external collaborators. The candidate will develop/optimize the performance of QPMLs with different gases as well as new laser THz cavities and characterize them at THz frequencies. This position involves developing statistical methods, data analytic tools, and mathematical models for analyzing smartphone data–collected with our high-throughput digital phenotyping platform–in biomedical research cohorts with the goal of establishing more precise and dynamic disease phenotypes.
