8. PhD Programs in cellular and molecular signatures for forensic age assessment of granulations tissue

Summary of PhD Positions:

The PhD fellowship is part of the research project Forensic age assessment of porcine granulation tissue funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark. Granulation tissue (tissue formed when wounds heal) is of decisive importance when assessing the age of the wound. However, the age assessment of granulation tissue formation both at the time of initiation and later is based on incomplete scientific evidence.

The overall goal is to apply cutting-edge technologies to develop new and objective methods to obtain accurate age assessment of granulation tissue in forensic assessments. The PhD fellowship will be focused on discovering molecular signatures for age assessment of granulation tissue using mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) to measure proteins and mRNA biomarkers in granulation tissue.
