3. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Itzhaki Lab, at Emory University School of Medicine, seeks to employ a postdoctoral fellow specializing in one or more of the following areas: electrophysiology research, calcium signaling, and/or induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) disease modeling. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary collaborative research environment focused on age-and sex-differences with respect to sex hormones in cardiovascular health and disease. The lab will specifically focus on sex hormones’ impact on the initiation and termination of cardiac arrhythmias, with the intent of contributing to the development of drug screening platforms, the derivation of new antiarrhythmic therapeutic options, and clinical risk stratification for the management of female and male pediatric and adult long QT syndrome patients, specifically, and arrhythmia-susceptible congenital disease patients, in general. For this research focus, the lab will apply advanced technologies, including high-throughput multiparametric electrophysiology recording systems, drug screening platforms, and disease-and patient-specific iPSC technology.

The Boulis laboratory in the Department of Neurosurgery at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a capable and self-motivated individual to oversee projects involving the transplantation of iPS cells for the treatment of motor neuron diseases and nerve damage. Our lab is also interested in gene therapy approaches for motor neuron diseases and for neuromodulation. The candidate should hold a Ph.D. in an appropriate field and have a strong publication record in neuroscience and related fields. The ideal candidate will have experience with creating iPS cells from human and rodent cells and differentiating them into motor neurons.
