1. Postdoctoral Position in Mechanisms of Neurological Diseases

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are opening new opportunities to join our research team investigating the mechanisms of neurological diseases. The team develops and applies optical tools (probes and actuators), imaging and lab automation instrumentation together with proteomics analyses to acquire novel biological insight.

This project establishes methods for high-throughput monitoring of the integration of neurons into synaptically-connected circuits. The project build on proteomics data and analyses with the aim to identify druggable events leading to perturbed synaptic connectivity. The impact of protein loss associated with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease on the sustained integrity of the circuit is investigated.

Application Deadline: 19.5.2023

2. Postdoctoral Position in SynGAP

The projects aim to identify druggable events leading to perturbed synaptic connectivity.

This project develops methods primarily for the purpose of identifying and quantifying defective function of SynGAP1 protein carrying disease-associated mutations using cultures of rodent and/or human neurons as well as other systems. Suitable assays should be evaluated for compatibility with drug-library screening in a potential follow-up project.

Application Deadline: 7.5.2023

4. Postdoctoral Position in Breast Cancer Biology

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are looking for a Post-doctoral Researcher to work on a project in breast cancer biology focusing on “microenvironmental containment of tumor progression through paracrine secretion”. This project, funded by Worldwide Cancer Research, aims to uncover and understand cancer-limiting signals initiated by the normal mammary gland stroma and to establish methods to reactivate these anti-invasive mechanisms in breast cancer.

The Post-doctoral Researcher will employ cutting-edge cell biological methods and imaging coupled with high-throughput screening and analysis of patient samples. The Post-doctoral Researcher will work in close collaboration with clinicians, the Ivaska lab team members and Turku Bioscience scientists, as well as experts from the Finnish Advanced Light Microscopy node and the Cell Imaging and Screening Core Facilities at Turku Bioscience.

Application Deadline: 30th April 2023

5. 2-4 Postdoctoral Position in Human Diversity

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The postdocs recruited will work within and between the Human Diversity associated research groups that are presented in the web pages https://sites.utu.fi/humandiversity/. The postdocs will use and combine the diverse datasets collected within the Human Diversity teams – or suggest new datasets – capitalizing on cross-disciplinary synergies within the Human Diversity. Possible research questions include, for example: How landscape and cultural factors between local populations affect migration decisions, spread of diseases and exchange of cultural and linguistic traits?

How has genetic, cultural and linguistic diversity arisen through population divergence and encounters? How have epidemics spread by human contacts affected the demography and human gene pool, especially in relation to immunity genes? How have concepts and ideas spread in the written literature and in the digital world across time and languages? How do genetic and epigenetic mechanisms influence transgenerational transmission of health and disease and how is the transmission affected by the environment or cultural environment?

Application Deadline: 28.4.2023

6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The position of postdoctoral researcher is connected to a research project entitled “GYROSCOPE: Scenarios, risks and opportunities of digital solutions in transition towards green andsustainable marine logistics” (Academy of Finland decision number 353056) funded by the Academy of Finland. The project produces a comprehensive picture of sustainable transition to green and sustainable logistics environment in Finland, and future policy pathways to achieve it. This will be realized by bringing together researchers, national authorities, and operational actors of the Finnish maritime cluster, to create collective future scenarios in Digital Foresight Platform (DFP) constructed and tested during the project.

Application Deadline: April 26th 2023
