Are you motivated to work in an interdisciplinary team of scientists embedded in an ambitious European research consortium? We have a vacant PhD position at Plant Production Systems, Wageningen University. Are you the PhD student we are looking for? We search for a PhD candidate, who will contribute to the EU project NATAE (Fostering agro-ecological transition in North Africa through multi-actor design, evaluation and networking). The objective of NATAE is to develop a methodology to foster agro-ecological (AE) transitions in North Africa, to increase the global sustainability of agriculture and the local resilience of territories, thus contributing to global food security and safety, together with environmental and sustainable development targets.

8. PhD Position in analysing barriers and opportunities for farmers to adopt integrated pest management strategies’

Summary of PhD Positions:

In this PhD project, you will contribute to this objective by integrated analyses of pesticide use and IPM adoption. Data on pesticide use is available in the form of financial, technical and environmental farm indicators from the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) or Farm Accountancy Sustainability Network (pilot FSDN). Data on IPM adoption will be collected at a European level and includes a choice experiment among farmers. The prospective candidate will work in an interdisciplinary setting, combining economic and behavioural sciences with agronomy and agricultural studies on the use of IPM strategies.
