This 4-year PhD project is funded by UK Research Waste Management Research Support Office (RWM RSO) and aims to provide an experimental characterization on the hydromechanical behaviour of compacted bentonite when wetted with high salinity water. In this PhD project we will design, develop, and apply novel hybrid laser systems with ultra-low phase and frequency noise, as required for cold-atom-based inertial sensing.
