5. Postdoctoral Position in Genetic interrogation of epigenetic pathways
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The overarching goal of the Tchasovnikarova lab is to apply novel genetic approaches to answer outstanding questions in epigenetics. Our research aims to (1) understand the molecular mechanisms utilised by chromatin regulators to exert their function in healthy human cells, and to (2) examine how these mechanisms are altered in disease. We take advantage of existing high-throughput genetic technologies, such as CRISPR/Cas9 genetic screens, to discover novel factors involved in chromatin pathways, which we then characterise using a combination of genetic and biochemical approaches. We are also particularly interested in developing novel genetic methods to study epigenetic pathways in human cells.

12. Postdoctoral Position in Forest-focused Supply Chain Policies in West Africa
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Guinean forests of West Africa are a critical ecosystem in global biodiversity conservation efforts. The region is also a global hotspot for cocoa cultivation, home to more than 7 million hectares of cocoa production that continues to expand into the remaining forest ecosystems. Deforestation is tied to cocoa yields and food demands in existing cocoa areas. As yields and soil fertility decline in existing farms, farmers seek out new forests to produce food in the near term and expand their cocoa plots over longer periods. Without interventions to enhance the sustainability and productivity of cocoa farms, deforestation will continue.

19. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The successful candidate will work alongside the PI, a PhD student, and an international team of collaborators to grow marine calcifying organisms (corals, foraminifera, coccolithophores) under controlled conditions in laboratory and field settings, and measure the response of their physiology to these conditions (respirometry, calcification rates, transcriptomics). 20. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Prof Martin Welch (Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge) to investigate the global “interactome” of Pseudomonas aeruginosa quorum sensing (QS) molecules. Until now, these signalling molecules have been assumed to primarily binding to a limited number of targets in the cell (the transcriptional regulators LasR, RhlR and PqsR). However, recent evidence indicates that QS signals likely also bind to a wealth of additional protein targets too. The successful applicant will deploy a state-of-the-art proteomic approach called “PISA” to identify these novel potential targets, and will then use the tool of protein chemistry and molecular microbiology to investigate the functional consequences of ligand binding.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Our Wellcome Leap Delta Tissue project aims to profile the tissue state of TNBC prior to, and after neo-adjuvant chemotherapy in responders and non-responders with the goal of creating a model to predict tissue end state from its initial state. Pushing the boundaries of what is currently possible with spatial proteomics, Wellcome Leap have further funded our team to build the world’s largest spatial proteomics facility. The aim of this is to profile a similar number of protein markers in a single patient on a scale matching that currently achievable by spatial transcriptomics. This will involve translating spatial, to single-cell data, therefore experience in single-cell genomics is desirable.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The world faces a major infectious disease challenge that is being made worse by antimicrobial resistance. We need new therapeutic modalities that overcome resistance and that do not affect the natural gastrointestinal flora, which is proven to be essential for gastrointestinal health. We contend that cell shape may be a targetable Achilles heel for enteric bacterial pathogens and has not yet been fully exploited for drug discovery and applications. To enable us to continue to explore this area of research, we have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team.
