15. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Why is aging the single greatest risk factor for dementia? What changes over time to render the brain increasingly vulnerable to proteins it has made throughout life? The Jankowsky lab seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to tackle this problem experimentally using controllable transgenic models for Alzheimer’s amyloidosis. We use genetic strategies to initiate the same neuropathology either early or late in life. Our goal is to compare how young and old glia respond to amyloid formation and whether the efficacy of therapeutic intervention differs in young and old brains. Researchers will work as part of a team combining mouse genetic engineering, viral circuit manipulation, neurohistology, and basic biochemistry to understand the causes of dementia and develop potential treatments.
