Dr. Kaya De Barbaro’s lab uses wearable audio, motion, and physiology recordings to characterize the processes of maternal mental health and infant social-emotional development in everyday home settings. The project will include women with a history of childhood maltreatment as participants. The Daily Activity Lab is an interdisciplinary team bridging developmental science, clinical psychology, computer science, and electrical engineering. We have just received NIH funds to begin a longitudinal research study to develop and test the potential of wearable sensors to assess the quality of early mother-infant interactions in natural home environments
