1. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Dr. Reck-Peterson’s laboratory studies the mechanisms of intracellular transport. The Reck-Peterson lab strives to understand how this system works at molecular, cellular, and organismal scales. At a disease level they are interested in developing novel antifungals based on their fundamental studies of organelle trafficking and secondary metabolite production in fungi. They also strive to determine why defects in intracellular transport cause neurodegenerative diseases. They use a combination of approaches including protein biochemistry and in vitro reconstitution, single-molecule biophysics, proteomics and genomics, fungal genetics, evolutionary analysis, mammalian cell culture, and state-of-the-art live-cell imaging.

2. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Following on our studies of biochemically reconstituted chromatin condensates (Gibson et al., Cell, 2019; Gibson et al., PNAS, 2023), we have developed methods to determine the higher-order organization of polynucleosome arrays in high-pressure frozen, cryoFIB milled samples using cryoET. We now plan to expand this technology to further explore chromatin itself, as well as the structures of various chromatin machines working within condensates. Additionally, we will apply the tools and knowledge to other biomolecular condensates. We will examine both biochemically reconstituted condensates as well as their cellular counterparts, with a goal of relating structural organization to function across a range of length scales (Lyon et al., Nature Reviews Molec Cell Biol, 2021).

3. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The lab is flexible for the chosen candidate to join the lab as either a Postdoctoral Associate or as a Research Specialist depending upon level of education, skills, experience, and the candidate’s career aspirations. Either way, the role’s primary focus will be to conduct research activities and manage an independent project involving the study of host responses to bacterial infection in support of the lab’s goals. Additionally, if the chosen candidate joins the lab as a Research Specialist, they will manage some elements of day-to-day lab operations (ordering supplies, safety compliance, training, equipment maintenance, etc.). This is an excellent opportunity for passionate, driven candidates who have demonstrated the ability to work both independently and collaboratively and have a solid track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.

5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Schreiter lab is part of the Molecular Tools and Imaging research area at Janelia. We aim to develop molecular tools that enable new biology. We often apply directed evolution, structure-guided design, and high-throughput functional screening to arrive at molecules with new or improved function. We collaborate closely with biology labs at Janelia and elsewhere to demonstrate the utility of our tools in model organisms such as mice, zebrafish, and fruit flies, and use them to tackle important biological questions.

6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking postdoctoral associates to investigate how large populations of neurons perform complex computations. We collect and analyze recordings of 50,000+ neurons, developing machine learning tools to extract computational principles from these large-scale datasets. We welcome applications from various fields, with a preference for experimental neuroscientists and computational neuroscientists.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Mitchell Lab at the University of Washington is seeking a driven and curious Postdoctoral Associate to join our group. The Mitchell lab focuses on understanding basic principles of host-pathogen interactions to address unmet challenges in infectious disease research. One of our primary areas of interest is focused on a class of innate immune sensors that form inflammasomes and deciphering how these sensors detect pathogens and influence host defense and pathogenesis.

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Our lab is part of the Mechanistic Cognitive Neuroscience department at Janelia. We seek to understand the mechanistic basis of social cognition. We do this by working to understand how rats classify and predict other rats’ actions and decide how to respond to them. We develop tools to make this possible and use these tools to reveal the neural basis of rodent social interaction in ethological settings.

9. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work within the shared lab of HHMI Investigator Dr. Tobias Walther and his scientific partner Dr. Robert Farese at Sloan Kettering Institute/Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. The Farese & Walther Laboratory studies the mechanisms of lipid metabolism, storage and homeostasis. The lab uncovers the biochemical, physical and cell biological principles that cells use to store lipids and to determine how lipid balance and storage are maintained. The lab also studies how processes of lipid storage affect physiology and disease.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Mendell laboratory is located in the Department of Molecular Biology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. We are a diverse group of passionate scientists investigating broad questions in RNA biology. In particular, we are interested in understanding how genes are regulated post-transcriptionally, how noncoding RNAs such as microRNAs and long noncoding RNAs participate in these regulatory pathways, and how these pathways go awry in human disease. We use a variety of approaches and model systems to address these questions including high-throughput screens, animal modeling, and mechanistic studies including structural biology. We are seeking additional laboratory members who share our passion for RNA biology and are enthusiastic to join our tight-knit team.
