1. Postdoctoral Position in Cardiac Inflammation Research
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are looking for a motivated Postdoctoral research fellow for a unique project aiming to develop an immunomodulatory treatment against cardiac inflammation, by targeting the pro-inflammatory alarmin S100A8/A9. More information about the treatment can be found in our recent publications in the European Heart Journal (Marinkovic et al, 2019) and Circulation Research (Marinkovic et al, 2020).
The treatment has recently been highlighted in Nature Reviews in Immunology as one of the most promising up-and-coming anti-inflammatory therapies in myocardial infarction. In-vivo and in-vitro experiments will be performed to define the underlying immunopathological mechanisms and to develop a possible therapy for patients. The position offers a great opportunity to be involved in a project with high potential for future clinical applicability.
Application Deadline: 04.Jun.2023
2. Postdoctoral Position in Evolutionary and conservation genomics
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are recruiting a post-doctoral researcher for a project integrating evolutionary genomic insights into biodiversity conservation. The project will use an interdisciplinary approach combining (paleo)genomics, population genetics, quantitative genetics and computer simulations. Large datasets of historical/modern genomes, chromosome-level assemblies, and timeseries fitness data for several endangered bird species are available. The main question we seek to answer is the role of genomic erosion during and after population bottlenecks on species viability and extinction risk. However, the candidate will have freedom to pursue other questions of their interest within evolutionary genomics at large.
Application Deadline: 21.May.2023

3. Postdoctoral Position in innovation studies
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The post-docs shall contribute to the research environment at CIRCLE. The overall aim of research at CIRCLE is to understand and explain how innovation can contribute to a good society and tackle societal challenges such as economic crises, climate change or the reorganization of the knowledge economy in a globalized world. This requires advanced insights into
how knowledge is created and diffused in organizations, networks, regions, countries, and globally,
Application Deadline: 14.May.2023
4. 02 Postdoctoral Position in EU-law and constitutional law
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The post-doctoral researcher, within the theoretical frame of the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg (MMW)-funded project entitled ‘Lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic in future crises’, will undertake a comparative study of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) focusing on emergencies laws (if any) in this comparative setting, as well as the related case law and policy developments to bring a better understanding of the concept of ‘emergency’ in action, with special regard to the Covid-19 pandemic and to the climate emergency.

5. Postdoctoral Position in public international law
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The postdoctoral fellow will be part of a larger ongoing research project funded by Formas. This project intends to map out the international legal framework for integrating natural resource management and environmental protection into peacebuilding activities. By assessing relevant norms and how they can be integrated, the purpose is to build a legal framework for environmental peacebuilding whilst also critically assessing the ability of this framework to foster environmental peacebuilding.
Application Deadline: 04.May.2023
6. Postdoctoral Position in Political Science
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The main responsibility of the postdoctoral fellow is to map the evolving global institutional landscape in the biodiversity and climate policy domains and conduct theory-guided empirical research on the integration, legitimacy, and effectiveness of institutional responses to the twin environmental crisis. The postdoctoral fellow works together with Thomas Hickmann and other researchers at the department of political science and within the BECC consortium as well as related institutes. At the outset of the project, a publication strategy is developed to disseminate knowledge in scholarly journals in the field of political science and interdisciplinary outlets.

7. Postdoctoral Position in Material Science, Sustainable Materials
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
In this project, we intend to study clay and its possibility to be used as a carrier of phosphates, for example as a “green” fertilizer in agriculture. Clay is an environmentally friendly, sustainable, and ancient material. The underlying idea is to develop a material based on clay that allows us to control and predict the release of polyphosphate. We anticipate that our results will be of great interest to society in general and the agricultural sector and companies producing fertilizers.
To this end, we will combine experiments such as low-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR), and osmotic stress with atomistic and coarse-grained molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations. The project is suitable for a postdoctoral fellow with experience of independent work and project management, who can work with several tasks in parallel. If it is promising and funding is available, the project can be extended to three years.
Application Deadline: 26.Apr.2023
8. Postdoctoral Position in biophysical chemistry of concentrated antibody solutions
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
In this project we aim at establishing a colloid-inspired approach to understand the origin of this behaviour and to predict it from low concentration data and mAb molecular structure. The postdoc we are looking for will apply different static and dynamic scattering techniques (based on light and x-rays) on mAb samples, including static and dynamic light scattering (SLS/DLS) and small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS), and analyse the data. (S)he will also perform microrheology experiments, establish mAb phase/state diagrams and closely work together with simulators and theoreticians in a concerted effort towards a better understanding of the complex solution behaviour of mAbs.

9. Postdoctoral Position in sustainable food innovation
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The postdoctoral researcher will work as a part of a multi- and transdisciplinary team on a Horizon Europe innovation programme CULTIVATE: Co-designing Food Sharing Innovation for Resilience. The purpose of this project is to transform urban and peri-urban (UPU) food systems towards sustainability and resilience by using a multi-actor approach and develop an online social innovation support platform – The Food Sharing Compass. Food sharing is defined as collective acts around food across the food system, from seed sharing and surplus food redistribution to community composting.
Application Deadline: 19.Apr.2023
10. Postdoctoral Position in environmental science
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The successful candidate will map and evaluate the robustness of existing LCA-based approaches published in various literature which include quantification of biodiversity impacts. In a second step, the candidate will assess the possibilities of integrating enhanced and adapted data-driven biodiversity metrics into developed LCA methodology for different decision contexts. Finally, LCA-based case studies will be performed testing and transforming the approaches mapped in the previous tasks but focusing on biodiversity consequences of alternative uses of bioenergy and food. Here, new biodiversity footprints will be combined with existing carbon footprints utilised in current decision-making, e.g. included in EU and national policy tools.
