Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Sutherland Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware is seeking a postdoctoral researcher. The Sutherland Lab studies the molecular mechanisms of bacterial cytochrome c biogenesis using biochemical, genetic and molecular biology approaches. Cytochromes c are ubiquitous in nature, functioning in diverse electron transport chains for critical cellular functions (e.g. respiration, detoxification) and are unique among cytochromes due to the requirement for covalently attached heme. The heme attachment reaction is accomplished by dedicated pathways termed System I, II and III. Under the supervision of Dr. Sutherland, the postdoctoral researcher will take a lead role in this NIH funded project to design and implement studies to elucidate mechanisms of heme trafficking and attachment by these fundamental pathways in bacteria.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Gundlach group is developing and using femtosecond time-resolved spectroscopic and microscopic techniques to investigate excited state dynamics in solid state materials and hybrid materials. THz excitations and transduction of magnonic, plasmonic, and excitonic excitations is governed by the coupling between these constituents and occurs on time-scales as short as a few femtoseconds. The necessary experimental techniques to study these processes in real time are developed, improved, and applied to novel materials systems in our group.
