The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in the department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine at Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. This experiment is an advanced R&D detector at Fermilab, designed to measure the neutron yield of GeV-scale neutrino interactions in gadolinium-doped water. To accomplish this measurement, ANNIE will rely on newly developed Large Area Picosecond Photodetectors (LAPPDs) and the development of novel experimental techniques. The first of these LAPPDs has been installed in ANNIE, with more to come over the coming months. An ambitious postdoctoral researcher will be entering the experiment at a time when we have exciting new data to analyze, but commissioning is still ongoing.
