1. Postdoctoral Position in Software Security

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

This Research Associate / Fellow position in software security will work to enhance web browser security by utilising CHERI compartmentalisation techniques. The aim of this work is to show how a real world web browser such as Chrome can take advantage of the CHERI security model. Web browsers are systemically important but present a large attack surface due to their scale and complexity: they are a magnet for attackers, with frequent published attacks. Chrome already splits itself into processes but we want to explore how to take that further with more fine-grained compartments: what are the trade-offs in doing so? Using CHERI will make intra-compartment communication much faster, so how can we take advantage of this when considering where to put compartment boundaries?

Application Deadline: 14-Mar-2023

2. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Berninger lab is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral research associate (PDRA) to join an ERC-funded research programme aiming at uncovering the molecular mechanisms of transcription factor-induced conversion of glia into neurons. Transcription factor-induced reprogramming of glia into neurons requires massive remodelling of the transcriptional and epigenetic landscapes. We seek to identify the molecular trajectory initiated by proneural transcription factors such as Ascl1 or Neurog2 that drives gene regulatory networks that underpin the cell identity conversion of mouse cortical glia into induced interneurons in vivo.
