The University of Washington’s Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences (I-LABS) has an opening for a post-doctoral researcher experienced with EEG and interested in behavioral and neural development with an emphasis on social interaction during early childhood in both typical and atypical (i.e. autism spectrum disorders) populations. Our collaborative team is focusing on face-to-face interaction between children and their parents employing various methods to measure neural and behavioral responses during live social interaction and their relation to developmental language and social outcomes. The project includes studies across two different locations. The primary location for this position is in Seattle, with occasional travel and a requirement to spend a few months a year at our secondary location, Riverside, California.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington (APL-UW) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to be deeply embedded in a research group that utilizes advanced ultrasound methods for both cardiovascular imaging as well as cardiac ablation (using high-intensity thermal ultrasound). The position will be primary responsible for fabrication, characterization (both electrical and acoustic) and pre-clinical implementation (as part of a team performing both ex-vivo and large animal in-vivo studies) of catheter-based cardiac/myocardial ablation. The clinical applications investigated will include ventricular tachycardia and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy septal reduction therapy. Opportunities will be available to interface with and participate in research projects in partner laboratories within the Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound.

The Center of Neuroscience, Neuroendocrinology & Clinical Translation (CoNNeCT) Laboratory (PI: Angela Fang) at the University of Washington (UW) is seeking a full-time postdoctoral scholar to assist in a new NIMH-funded mechanistic clinical trial. 7. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We invite applications for two full-time, 12-month Postdoctoral Scholar positions in the area of experimental nuclear physics, on direct measurements of neutrino mass, in the Physics Department at the University of Washington (UW). The base salary range for this position is $5705–$6500 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The successful candidates will be involved in two experiments, KATRIN and Project 8, that probe the neutrino mass by precisely measuring the beta decay spectrum of tritium. We envision that one position will involve full time work on Project 8 and one will be a split between KATRIN and Project 8.

The Greninger Lab has an outstanding opportunity for a 1.0 FTE Postdoctoral Scholar in the area of syphilis immunology and genomics for a newly funded project. The Greninger Lab has made major contributions to the genomics of Treponema pallidum, developing new wet-lab and dry-lab pipelines for whole genome sequencing, genome finishing, and deep profiling of the immunoevasive TprK gene, as well as phage display profiling of the serological response to this mercurial pathogen. The goal of the present work is to contribute greater functional interpretation of the sequences available for Treponema pallidum as well as proteome-wide profiling of the rabbit and human immune response to Treponema pallidum, with the goal of contributing to the development of an effective vaccine. The Greninger Lab works closely with the laboratory of Dr. Lorenzo Giacani in support of these goals.

The research groups of Shima Abadi and William Wilcock in the School of Oceanography at the University of Washington (UW) are seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to study the capabilities of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) to record Southern Resident Killer Whales (SRKW) and other marine mammals’ vocalizations in Salish Sea. This opportunity is part of a growing effort at the UW to explore multidisciplinary applications of fiber sensing for the environmental sciences.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research group responsible for collecting DAS and hydrophone data in Salish Sea. They will develop techniques to detect and locate marine mammal vocalizations using both DAS and hydrophone array data. Additionally, they will analyze the performance of DAS as a passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) technique in comparison to conventional monitoring methods using visual observations or hydrophone array recordings.
