6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We have a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work with reactive multiphase modeling for the thermal treatment of municipal solid wastes at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering (EPT) in Trondheim, Norway. The process of gasifying municipal solid waste and separated fractions, including low-quality biomass and plastics, can generate gas for energy application, produce hydrogen, or high-quality syngas for chemical synthesis. The gasification of waste is a technology that enables the integration of bio-based carbon into the future circular economy by utilizing low-quality biomass and allows for the recycling of mixed plastic wastes.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Plasmonic structures have been extensively researched as essential elements of many nanoscale photonic and electronic devices. Of particular interest is their ability to manipulate light via interactions between photons and surface plasmons, which has been exploited in a variety of applications including nano-lasers, metamaterials, and solar cells. One underexplored field of application for plasmonic structures is in chemistry, where their ability to act as highly localised sources of light, heat, or energetic electrons and their ability to couple with excited states of molecular systems can be used to induce chemical reactions or modify reaction outcomes. In this project, you will investigate the feasibility of using engineered arrays of metallic nanostructures as tuneable media for controlling chemical reactions via plasmonic and photonic interactions.

14. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The position is financed by the NTNU recruitment positions to pursue a development of excellence research in “intelligent autonomous operations and sensing in marine ecosystem research”. The project will focus on the use of USV (unmanned surface vehicle) and ROV (remotely operated vehicle) as instrument carrier for optical (underwater hyperspectral imaging-UHI, photogrammetry, spectroradiometry) and other environmental sensors (eg. light, temperature, nutrients) providing information to identify, map and monitor objects of interest (OOI), using new approaches to correct for Inherent Optical Properties (IOP) in water that may obscure optical signatures from OOIs.

In this project correction of IOPs (spectral absorbance and reflectance) will be performed/developed to identify and map the objects of interest (OOI) providing a common currency in remote and in situ sensing, namely absolute spectral reflectance (remote sensing reflectance). The PD will be part of a larger interdisciplinary group working, the NTNU Observational Pyramid, doing research on environmental variables (eg. light, temperature) and its effect on living organisms such as photosynthesis, light regime measurements (photobiology – light as a cue of life) and remote sensing of ocean colour at sea surface, water column and bottom habitats.
