1. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Tarchini Lab at The Jackson Laboratory (http://tarchini-lab.org) is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to complete a team currently composed of two postdocs, one research assistant and rotating students or shorter term trainees. The laboratory focuses on cell polarity mechanisms and their impact on the morphogenesis of sensory “hair” cells in the mouse auditory and vestibular organs, including hearing and balance ability. We are particularly interested in discovering new protein complexes organizing and elongating the stereocilia bundle, the apical hair cell compartment capturing sound or head movements. We are also interested in understanding how these proteins respond to damage, and more generally, to ask whether the molecular machinery assembling the stereocilia bundle during development could be leveraged to regenerate these structures after injury. We are independently funded with two R01 grants from NIH.

2. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Our research goals are to: i) define the molecular pathways that regulate splicing factors in normal and cancer cells, as well as during cell differentiation; ii) uncover causal splicing alterations in breast tumors; and iii) identify splicing factors and spliced isoforms which could be used as biomarkers to predict disease progression or drug-response, or as targets for RNA-based therapeutics. Our research uses 3D cell culture models, mouse models including patient-derived xenograft, as well as large clinical datasets, and leverages cutting-edge approaches such as RNA-targeting CRISPR, short- and long-read RNA-sequencing, and single-cell approaches, to decipher the role of spliced isoforms and their regulators.

11. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The labs of Drs. Gareth Howell and Erik Bloss at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor Maine are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the role of genetic risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) on synaptic plasticity and neural circuit dysfunction. The Howell lab utilizes genetic and multi-omic approaches to study neurodegenerative diseases including AD and related dementias (ADRDs). Of relevance to this position, Dr. Howell is one of the lead PIs on MODEL-AD (Model Organism Development and Evaluation of late-onset AD), an NIA-funded consortium charged with developing improved mouse models of LOAD. The Bloss lab leverages high resolution imaging, observation and manipulation of in vivo neural activity, and genetic perturbations in specific neurons, to define how neural circuits function in health and disease. This position will benefit from joint mentoring from Drs. Howell and Bloss, as well the resources being generated by MODEL-AD.

12. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

sssssThe Stitzel Lab at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, CT is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to join our scientific team working to understand the precise genetic mechanisms controlling pancreatic islet identity and function and identify genes and response pathways that can be therapeutically targeted to prevent islet dysfunction and enhance islet resilience. We conduct innovative allelic and functional and single cell genomic analyses of primary human islets and employ high-throughput genomic techniques (e.g. CRISPR-based screens, MPRA) to (de)code the gene regulatory circuits controlling each islet cell type in human and mouse and uncover gene targets and molecular effects of human diabetes risk variants.
