Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in Dr. Lisa Racki’s Lab at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA (rackilab.org) for a highly motivated scientist interested in bacterial chromatin and the role of chromatin in regulating bacterial phages. Specifically, this project will use phage and phage-derived tools to characterize the organization, structure, and dynamics of bacterial chromatin in the opportunistic human pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This project uses an integrative approach to study bacterial chromatin structure at multiple scales, from in vitro biochemistry, to quantitative single cell timelapse imaging using microfluidics, to macroscopic studies of biofilm communities.

3. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Scripps Research is seeking a motivated postdoctoral associate to work in the area of neural circuits and neuroendocrine biology of metabolism. It is now well-established that communication between the brain and the gut, the so-called gut-brain axis, regulates important aspects of behavior and metabolism in many species. However, the salient mechanisms and molecular features of gut-brain communication remain mysterious. In our lab, we utilize C. elegans as a model system for our discovery studies of gut-brain communication, in which we utilize cutting-edge technologies to measure dynamic neural and metabolic activity in living animals. Such cell-based readouts are coupled with changes in behavior and metabolism, to uncover novel pathways all the way from molecules to whole-animal biology. We also conduct studies in mouse models and in human cells using a variety of approaches to discover unknown mechanisms underlying mammalian physiology.

4. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Postdoctoral Associate will determine protein dynamics in genetically defined brain cell types in animal models of Alzheimer’s Disease using bio-orthogonal non-canonical amino acid tagging (BONCAT) of newly-synthesized proteins and quantitative mass spectrometry, and conduct studies examining cellular and molecular mechanisms contributing to synaptic and neuronal function and plasticity. The candidate will be actively involved in optimizing experimental design, data analysis, data interpretation and preparing manuscripts and presentations.

5. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate. The Droujinine Lab develops novel methods to identify and characterize novel secreted factors that coordinate organ and organism functions in homeostasis and disease in mammalian systems. To that end, we established an in vivo global proteomic platform to investigate secreted protein trafficking between organs in mice. Ideal candidate will lead their own project, and perform mammalian cell culture, in vivo mouse experiments, quantitative TMT mass spectrometry proteomics, metabolomics, western blot, pulldowns, DNA cloning, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, high throughput screens, and bioinformatic data analysis. Significant emphasis is placed on the professional development of the Postdoctoral Associate.

6. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Dr. Lotz lab at Scripps Research is looking for a highly motivated individual with strong background and technical expertise in cell and molecular biology and bioinformatics for our program on transcription factors in joint biology and arthritis pathogenesis. In a newly funded program about mechanisms of joint tissue destruction and joint pain, we are using Omics technologies (RNA-seq, single cell-RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, epigenetic analyses, spatial transcriptomics) to identify dysregulated transcription factors and test candidate genes in vitro and using mutant mouse strains. Genes that are identified to be essential regulators of homeostatic processes or to promote arthritis pathogenesis are tested in viral gene delivery approaches and used in drug screening assays.

8. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Dr. Shannon Miller’s laboratory at Scripps Research is currently seeking talented Postdoctoral Associate candidates. The Miller Lab uses directed evolution and engineering to develop novel technologies for biomolecule delivery, with a focus on improving in vivo delivery of genome editing agents. Areas of exploration encompass non-viral and viral approaches, including engineering viral payload (RNA/DNA/protein), increasing viral packaging limit, exploring natural diversity for new evolutionary starting points, and improving in vivo biomolecule stability. The candidate would lead efforts towards the creation of bacterial circuits for the improved activity of viral packaging proteins, development of technologies that enable packaging of non-canonical materials, and development and implementation of assays to evaluate the properties of the resulting biomolecules and vectors.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Digital Trial Center (DTC) at Scripps Research leads groundbreaking studies that address the world’s most pressing health concerns. As pioneers of the “site-less” clinical trial, we leverage rapidly evolving digital health technologies to re-engineer the clinical trial experience around the participant, rather than the research site. In our prospective translational research, we use digital technologies, such as wearable sensors, remote biosample collection, sleep trackers and online surveys. With these technologies, we want to better understand health behaviors and transform the participant experience, returning individualized information through this technology. Together, we are transforming how and where clinical research is done.
