3. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Boonyaratanakornkit Laboratory within the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow with experience in virology, molecular biology, and/or immunology. The lab studies viruses that afflict vulnerable patients who are at heightened risk for serious complications or death. We study the humoral immune system (B cells and antibodies) using highly sensitive techniques to identify protective responses against viruses. We leverage this information to develop immune-based therapies with the goal of improving the care of vulnerable patients. Current projects in the lab are aimed at studying rare B cells targeting common viruses, like respiratory syncytial virus, human metapneumovirus, parainfluenza viruses, coronaviruses, and cytomegalovirus. The lab is engineering antibodies to enhance their ability to prevent and treat viral infections in vulnerable patients.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Hsieh Lab at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The core focus of the Hsieh Lab is to interrogate the mechanisms by which post-transcriptional gene regulation governs cancer cell behavior at a molecular, cellular, and organismal level (Schuster and Hsieh Trends in Cancer 2019, Liu et al. Science Translational Medicine 2019, Jana et al. JCI Insight 2021, Lim et al. Nature Communications 2021, Germanos et al. eLIFE 2022, and Jana et al. Cancer Cell 2023). Available projects in the laboratory focus on understanding how mRNA-specific translation is achieved within cells and how mRNA translation coordinates distinct cancer phenotypes such as cellular plasticity and immune evasion.

5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Post-Doctoral Fellow will contribute to the Lab’s research agenda with a focus on the identification of tumor microenvironmental factors that dictate success or failure to immune checkpoint blockade. This project will involve single cell sequencing experiments and subsequent data analysis. The project will also involve the use of novel mouse models of lung cancer that rely on cigarette smoke exposure in mice to generate lung adenocarcinomas with a high mutational spectral burden. The fellow will conduct independent and collaborative research resulting in presentations and publications.

6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Stamatatos Lab is a leader in HIV translational research, focusing specifically on the development and evaluation of both preclinical and clinical cutting-edge vaccination approaches against existing and emerging viral pathogens. We are experts in immunogen-design, protein and mRNA-based immunization modalities, structural biology and B cell immunology. Currently, our immunogens are being evaluated in the clinic in association and close collaboration with the HVTN (HIV Vaccines Trials Network) at the Fred Hutch. Our work has made significant strides in the HIV field and has direct clinical impact. We are looking for a candidate that shares our devotion to developing novel vaccine strategies and eliminating viral diseases.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Ring Lab of Synthetic and Systems Immunopharmacology is located within the Translational Science and Therapeutics Division and is a member of the Immunotherapy Integrated Research Center (IIRC). Their primary focus is on developing unique and first-in-class therapeutic drugs for cancer immunotherapy using cutting-edge protein engineering with directed evolution. The lab has developed therapeutics that are currently in clinical trials, such as ST-067 (a “decoy-resistant” IL-18), MDNA-11 (CD122-biased IL-2), and ALX-148/evorpacept (an ultra-high affinity SΙRPα decoy). Moreover, the Ring Lab is actively working on developing platforms for identifying new targets in cancer immunotherapy. These technologies include the REAP platform for discovering autoantibodies in patient samples, and high-throughput techniques in synthetic antibody engineering and proteogenomics to pinpoint new tumor antigens.

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A post-doctoral research fellow position is available in the Hatch Lab in the Basic Sciences Division. We study the structure and dynamics of the human nuclear envelope, with a primary interest in why and how nuclear membranes rupture and repair, and how defects in nuclear membrane stability impact cancer development (Gunn, Yashchenko, and Hatch, bioRxiv, 2023, DiPeso et al., bioRxiv, 2023, Mammel, Gunn, and Hatch, LSA, 2021; Maciejowski and Hatch, Ann Rev Cell Dev Biol, 2020). The Hatch lab uses a variety of techniques to achieve these goals with a focus on microscopy, automated image analysis, and cell-based tool development.
