2. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Gonzalez Lab at UCSF is seeking an energetic, curious, and driven Postdoctoral Associate interested in systems neuroscience to join our research team. The Gonzalez lab focuses on identifying the fundamental mechanism by which neurons process information and control behavior in mice and songbirds. We are particularly interested in implementing electrophysiological (high density probes) and imaging (single/multi-photon) tools to record neuronal activity in behaving mice/songbirds and identify how performance of complex motor behaviors is controlled by the brain. We take a multidisciplinary approach to research which often includes tool development as well as approaches in molecular, cellular and system neuroscience.

3. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Mendell laboratory is located in the Department of Molecular Biology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. We are a diverse group of passionate scientists investigating broad questions in RNA biology. In particular, we are interested in understanding how genes are regulated post-transcriptionally, how noncoding RNAs such as microRNAs and long noncoding RNAs participate in these regulatory pathways, and how these pathways go awry in human disease. We use a variety of approaches and model systems to address these questions including high-throughput screens, animal modeling, and mechanistic studies including structural biology. We are seeking additional laboratory members who share our passion for RNA biology and are enthusiastic to join our tight-knit team.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow or research specialist to join our group to work on an independent research project related to glia-neuron interactions or focused on the mechanisms of activity dependent-synapse elimination in the mammalian central nervous system. There are many possible projects in this area such as studying the role of astrocytes in synapse elimination, glia-immune signaling, cell death signaling at the synapse, the connection between neuronal activity and synapse elimination, or more generally – how glia support and protect neuronal function.

5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking postdoctoral associates to investigate how large populations of neurons perform complex computations. We collect and analyze recordings of 50,000+ neurons, developing machine learning tools to extract computational principles from these large-scale datasets. We welcome applications from various fields, with a preference for experimental neuroscientists and computational neuroscientists.

6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Zimmer Lab at the University of Virginia studies how complex carbohydrates shape, support and functionalize biological cells and tissues. By using a wide range of molecular and structural biology tools as well as glycobiology and biochemistry, we study the structure & assembly of cell surface polymers that form extracellular architectures. Many organisms extend their surfaces as protective barriers, to mediate cellular interactions, and to confer mechanical strength. Our research focuses on the synthesis and secretion of high molecular weight polysaccharides and their assembly on cell surfaces. We study capsule and biofilm formation in bacteria, cell wall biosynthesis in plants, chitin deposition in arthropods, and extracellular matrix formation in vertebrates.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Phillips lab at the University of California, San Francisco is looking for a talented postdoctoral researcher interested in developing and implementing high-throughput techniques to study viral protein and antibody evolution. Established in September 2022, there are many exciting, early-stage projects available to incoming Postdoctoral Associates. These projects are designed to open several new avenues of study, enabling Postdocs to design their own projects, and for Postdocs considering academic positions, to support the transition to launching their independent research program.

10. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Schreiter lab is part of the Molecular Tools and Imaging research area at Janelia. We aim to develop molecular tools that enable new biology. We often apply directed evolution, structure-guided design, and high-throughput functional screening to arrive at molecules with new or improved function. We collaborate closely with biology labs at Janelia and elsewhere to demonstrate the utility of our tools in model organisms such as mice, zebrafish, and fruit flies, and use them to tackle important biological questions.
