The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University is currently seeking a full-time, non-tenure, Postdoctoral Associate position within the Department of Immunology and Nanomedicine. Research in the laboratory focuses on identifying molecular mechanisms regulating HIV latency in the CNS and lung with a goal of eradicating viral reservoirs in these target organs. Lung research will also emphasize on the effects of HIV infection and cigarette smoke on lung inflammation and airway innate immunity with a goal towards developing therapeutic approaches to rescue these effects. The laboratory is funded by three NIH R01 grants and a Florida department of health grant to determine the effects of HIV and cigarette smoke on reactive oxygen species, mitochondrial dysfunction and airway inflammation.
