1. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Peti-Peterdi lab is seeking a Postdoc Scholar to join its team at the Health Science Campus. The Peti-Peterdi’s laboratory is focused on understanding the mechanisms of kidney disease development, and to identify new molecular players in the disease process as potential targets for future development of therapeutic approaches.

The main experimental research approach involves direct visualization of intact organs (mainly the kidney) in mice using fluorescence microscopy. Therefore, long-term experience with handling and surgery of laboratory mice, and basic knowledge/experience in fluorescence microscopy are required.

The annual base salary range for this position is $64,480- $72,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

3. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A Postdoctoral Research position in genetic and cancer epidemiology is available at the USC Center for Genetic Epidemiology. The applicant must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent qualification) with training in epidemiology, biostatistics and/or statistical genetics. The postdoctoral fellow will work directly with Dr. Chris Haiman on analyzing data from genetic association studies, which includes GWAS and/or whole-genome sequence data from the Multiethnic Cohort as well as large-scale genetics consortia such as the NHGRI PAGE consortium. In addition to cancer, non-cancer outcomes will also be examined including anthropometric traits, diabetes and biomarkers, such as lipids, glucose, insulin or inflammatory markers.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, Los Angeles is seeking to hire a Postdoc Scholar Research Associate. The laboratory is internationally recognized for research contributions in Alzheimer’s disease and stroke and is interested in other neurodegenerative diseases and stem cell technologies. Studies are aimed at understanding the role of amyloid β peptide (Aβ) trans-vascular clearance, cerebral β-amyloidosis, and neuronal dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and particularly investigating AD-associated SNPs in PICALM gene, a significant risk factor for AD, using in vitro BBB models and transgenic mouse models.

5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A post-doctoral position is available in the research group of Dr. Steven Gazal, assistant professor in the department of preventive medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California (USC). The fellow will work closely with Dr. Gazal, with other members in his group, and with collaborators at the USC Center of Genetic Epidemiology, and USC biostatistics department.

The lab focuses on developing and applying statistical methods to understand the genetic basis of human disease, with expertise in combining population genetics, genetic epidemiology and functional genomics approaches. Our current area of interests includes: (1) Understanding the impact of selection on the architecture of diseases, (2) Optimizing the use of functional datasets linking disease variants to their target genes, and (3) Understanding the impact of the environment on molecular phenotypes and diseases. We aim to apply these research directions to the analysis of data from inflammatory diseases and immune cells.
