Northwestern University, Illinois, USA invites multiple online application for Postdoctoral Fellowships in various research areas. Candidates interested in Postdoctoral Fellowships can check the details and may apply as soon as possible.

1. Postdoctoral Position in Drug Discovery

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Center for Physical Genomics and Engineering (CPGE) at Northwestern University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow or research faculty (non-tenure track) with proven expertise in Cell Pharmacology/Assay Development to launch its Drug Discovery and Development Team, aimed at identifying lead compounds for the prevention and treatment of cancer and other currently intractable diseases.

CPGE is a pioneer in the manipulation of supranucleosomal chromatin structure for the predictable regulation of global patterns of gene expression. Drug discovery efforts are further enabled by proprietary chromatin nano-imaging and computational genomics platforms.

By integrating these state-of-the-art technologies, CPGE is bringing a novel perspective to complex and long-standing problems in human health and biology, enabling us to revisit old paradigms and approach cancer and other diseases from a new and promising angle: the use of compounds to modulate the chromatin nano-environment.

2. Postdoctoral Position in Translational Neurobiology

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The research at the Laboratory of Translational Neurobiology is aimed at understanding the mechanistic interactions between genetic, epigenetic, and environmental influences on the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease.

Our research approaches include behavioral paradigms of learning and memory, genetic manipulations (i.e., transgenic models and viral-vector mediated gene transfer), biochemical techniques (i.e. Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and RT-qPCR), and bioinformatics (i.e. RNA-seq, CUT/RUN, proteomics). The laboratory has excellent molecular and cellular biochemical and morphological measurement capabilities.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Development of Identities in Cultural Environments (DICE) research group invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position starting in Fall 2023. The postdoctoral scholar will work directly with Dr. Onnie Rogers on various projects examining and supporting identity development (race, gender, sexuality, social class) among racially and ethnically diverse children and adolescents in educational and sociopolitical contexts.

The postdoctoral scholar will also be expected to develop and execute their own research projects. The DICE lab in located in the Department of Psychology at Northwestern University. Applications should be addressed to Dr. Rogers at thedicelab@gmail.com. Please put “2023 DICE Lab Postdoc” in the subject line. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.

5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Postdoctoral positions are available on NIH funded research projects to study the biology of virus infection in different cell types and its links to neurodegeneration, in the Naghavi Lab. Dr. Naghavi is a professor at the Department of Microbiology-Immunology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The Feinberg School of Medicine is located in the center of downtown Chicago.

Our research focuses on infection by Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1 (HIV-1), a retrovirus and causative agent of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). In addition to suppressing the immune system, rendering victims susceptible to opportunistic infections, HIV-1 can cross the blood-brain barrier and cause serious damage to the central nervous system, ultimately leading to a broad spectrum of disorders that range from mild impairment to severe HIV-associated dementia.

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent with strong research experience in virology, neuroscience and/or molecular biology. Applicants with experience in fluorescence microscopy and live imaging are particularly encouraged to apply. Interested applicants should submit a complete CV, a brief description of their research achievements and interests, and the name and contact details for three referees to Dr. Mojgan Naghavi at Mojgan.Naghavi@Northwestern.edu.

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Barish Laboratory, based in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Molecular Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Northwestern University’s Chicago campus. The Barish Lab investigates transcriptional mechanisms underlying metabolic disease, particularly in the context of diabetes mellitus, obesity, and aging-associated pathologies.

The postdoctoral research scientist in the lab will conduct cutting edge research in skeletal muscle and/or liver biology using mouse models, physiologic testing, metabolomics, and biochemical and genomic methods.

Highly motivated candidates should hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree with interest and experience in metabolism, molecular biology, and mouse models. Critical thinking and clear communication are essential qualities. Experience in genomics and bioinformatic analysis is preferred. The salary will be based on the National Institutes of Health NRSA scale and commensurate with experience.

Interested applicants should submit a CV and brief cover letter describing research experience, research interests and career goals along with a list of three references to Dr. Grant Barish, MD at grant.barish@northwestern.edu. Selected candidates will be invited for interviews with the PI and laboratory.

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Glaser Lab, at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Dept of Neurology, is hiring multiple postdoctoral research scientists. The Glaser Lab is a computational neuroscience lab that develops machine learning tools for neural data analysis, and works closely with experimental collaborators to answer neuroscience questions.

More specifically, we aim to develop interpretable machine learning methods to better make sense of large-scale and complex neural activity data, with a focus on analyzing populations of individual neurons. We are excited to develop new computational tools to better understand how different brain areas and cell types interact, how neural activity flexibly drives movement and behavior across a wide range of conditions, and how the dynamics of neural activity differ across behaviors, diseases, and internal states.

Interested candidates should e-mail a single PDF with a cover letter briefly describing their research interests and qualifications, a curriculum vitae, as well as the names and contact information for three references to Dr. Joshua Glaser at j-glaser@northwestern.edu.
