Scaraffia´s lab performs metabolic studies in mosquitoes. Her laboratory is particularly interested in unraveling the physiological, biochemical and molecular bases underlying the regulation of nitrogen and carbon metabolism in mosquitoes, as well as in discovering new metabolic targets that can be used for the design of better mosquito-control strategies.

2. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow to join our lab with a focus on brain vasculature and mitochondria. We study aging and Alzheimer’s disease; therefore, the applicant is expected to have a background in cerebrovascular sciences. The position involves independently performing experiments (data collection and analysis) and working as part of a team comprised of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate, and undergraduate students. Proven expertise in rodent surgical techniques (including performing surgeries, handling, and monitoring rodents) and two-photon imaging are critical. The applicant should be familiar with a variety of approaches including fluorescent microscopy, working with isolated vessels, immunofluorescence, western blot, and PCR demonstrated by the applicant’s peer-reviewed publications. The applicant should be able to collect and analyze data, compose manuscripts for publication, as well as for presentations.
