The solid oxide electrolysis cell technology offers unmatched efficiencies(>25% over SoA) but are prone to degradation at high current densities. Experimental results show that overlaying constant current with alternating current(referred to as AC:DC operation) can significantly extend the lifetime of SOE cells. This can facilitate a faster transition to more efficient electrolysis technologies. In this project, you will investigate how AC:DC operation conditions such as frequency, amplitude and duty cycle affects the SOE degradation rate.

3. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The applicants must hold, or soon be getting a PhD degree in electrical engineering. It is expected that the candidate has a solid research background and research experience in the field of modeling, stability analysis, and novel approaches for virtual synchronous generator(VSG) control. Experience in prototyping small-scale hardware-in-the-loop(HIL) test benches using dSPACE, RTDS and DSPs programming is also needed.

Research areas will be within advanced carbon dioxide capture ranging from direct air capture(DAC) to point source capture technologies based on a variety of methods and utilization systems such as power-2-x system to produce fuels or other chemical products. Applicants are expected to have a background within either chemical engineering or mechanical engineering with expertise in thermal and chemical process modeling and optimization and tools related to this. Good competencies are furthermore required in fields such as advanced thermo-chemical system synthesis, heat- and mass transfer and advanced fluid dynamics are required.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The two-year postdoc position is part of the research project“Edge AI for High Stability-Robustness of Power Electronics in Modern Power Systems” funded by the Villum Foundation. The project aims at solving current instability problems with power converters in, e.g., wind turbines, by changing and modernising the control architecture. This will be achieved using AI at the edge(deep learning applied in microcontrollers), and is expected to push the boundaries and capabilities of state of the art through advances in signal processing and system identification theories.
