Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Applications are invited for a research associate under the direction of Sarah Kate Bearman, Ph.D. in the Laboratory for Leveraging Evidence and Advancing Practice for Youth Mental Health (LEAP Lab) at UT Austin. Activities will include leading a study to develop and test a mental health literacy curriculum for public middle schools (PIs Sarah Kate Bearman and Molly Lopez). Duties may also include assisting with a NIMH-funded randomized clinical trial of the FIRST treatment protocol (Weisz & Bearman, 2020), which involves a collaboration with Harvard University (PI John Weisz) and UT Austin (PI Sarah Kate Bearman). The Matsui cancer research program merges cancer, stem cell, and developmental biology to better understand tumor initiation, regrowth, and spread. We have identified the determinants of self-renewal in both blood (multiple myeloma, leukemia) and solid (pancreas) that include signaling pathways directing embryonic development. We have also carried out translational research and have developed several novel treatment approaches in the laboratory that have been subsequently tested in patients in the form of novel clinical trials.
