Bayreuth University, Germany invites multiple online application for Postdoctoral Positions in various research areas. Candidates interested in Postdoctoral Fellowships can check the details and may apply as soon as possible.
1. Senior Post-Doctoral Position (m/f/d) in Plant Ecology
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:
The full-time position is initially offered for 3 years, extendable after evaluation for up to 3 years. The research group examines the mechanisms determining plant distribution patterns and the composition and diversity of plant communities. Various aspects of how abiotic and biotic factors influence species’ performance, distribution patterns and diversity are investigated, and considered in the context of global climate change. The group is part of the Bayreuth Center of Ecology and Environmental Research (BayCEER) with more than 60 senior researchers and postdocs. The position offers the opportunity to develop an own research and teaching profile (including habilitation at the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geosciences, University of Bayreuth). Development of new research proposals and publication of high-quality original scientific research are expected. The teaching load is 5 hours per week. Teaching will be in German and/or English primarily in the B.Sc. Biology and the M.Sc. Biodiversity and Ecology programs at the University Bayreuth. The candidate will also support the coordination of research and teaching in the group.
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
2. Postdoc (m/f/d) in forest modelling and statistical ecology
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:
You will contribute to the development of a demographic forest simulation model and calibrate it using extensive European forest data and Bayesian methods (model-data integration). You will also project future forest development and associated uncertainties under different climate scenarios and formulate adaptation strategies for forest management. The position is part of the junior research group BayForDemo, which is funded by the Bavarian Climate Research Network bayklif.

3. PhD and Postdoc positions (m/f/d) in fundamental turbulence research (ERC Consolidator Project UniTED)
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:
Turbulence is ubiquitous in nature and technology. Yet, developing theories of turbulence, which ultimately all modeling applications rely on, remains an outstanding scientific challenge. The goal of the EU-funded project UniTED is to combine theory and new computational approaches to tackle this long-standing problem and enhance our fundamental understanding of highly turbulent flows.
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
4. Senior Post-Doctoral Position (m/f/d) in Soil Physics – Chair of Soil Physics
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:
The full-time position is initially offered for 3 years, extendable after evaluation for up to 3 years, starting as early as possible. The Chair of Soil Physics aims at the understanding and characterization of mass and energy fluxes in soils, including the non-linear feedbacks between plants, soil ecology and soil chemistry. Research topics include, but not limited to: Multiscale experimental quantification of water flow, solute transport, and heat flow in soils, Soil-plant interactions Characterizing soil bio-physical properties at the pore and at the continuum scale.
Application Deadline: October 31, 2022
