This NIH-funded Researcher position is available in Dr. Shengyu Yang’s lab to study the role of mitochondrial calcium signaling and cysteine metabolism in cancer metastasis. Our goal is to reveal how the dysregulated mitochondrial signaling and metabolic stress in metastatic cancer cells promotes pancreatic cancer progression and metastasis. This project is built on our recent discoveries that the activation of mitochondrial calcium uniporter in pancreatic cancer cells is able to regulate cysteine metabolism to promote pancreatic cancer progression.
