The multidisciplinary research group of Dr. phil. Anja Gysin and Prof. Sebastian Walther at the University Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Bern deal with questions of early detection and treatment of patients with suicidal experiences and behavior in adulthood. With a clinical focus, the NePsyASSIP project is investigating basic mechanisms of action in the treatment of people who have attempted suicide. A PhD student position is available to study the immunoregulatory mechanisms underpinning alveolar echinococcosis (AE), which is caused by Echinococcus multilocularis (small fox tapeworm) and which represents the highest ranking foodborne parasitic zoonosis in Europe.
