Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Mittag laboratory invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on structures of the tumor suppressor and ubiquitin ligase component SPOP. We have recently solved the first cryo-EM structures of full-length SPOP (Cuneo et al. Mol Cell 2023), and they have revealed interfaces that had not recently been observed in structures of smaller constructs. Importantly, these interfaces are lined with cancer mutations whose molecular mechanisms were not previously understood, but now provide molecular explanations for pathophysiological mechanisms. We have also revealed that certain mutations lead to large changes in quaternary assembly.

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Chen Lab studies: i) Chemical modulation of transcription; ii) Signal crosstalk among transcription factors; and iii) Selective inhibition of highly homologous enzymes. We take a hypothesis-driven and technology-enabled multidisciplinary approach to develop chemical probes and investigate biological mechanisms. Particularly we use the promiscuous xenobiotic nuclear receptors (PXR and CAR) as models to investigate the transcription networks that regulate therapeutic responses. PXR and CAR regulate the detoxification system (e.g., by transcriptionally controlling CYP3A4 and CYP3A5—drug-metabolizing enzymes that metabolize more than 50% of clinical drugs), the dysregulation of which contributes to drug toxicity and drug resistance.

11. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are excited to announce a postdoctoral fellowship available in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Roberts in the Division of Molecular Oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Dr. Roberts is a leader in the field of cancer epigenetics, and his research has provided new insights into the central role of chromatin remodeling perturbations in cancer, discoveries that have been translated into investigational therapies for both pediatric and adult cancer patients. His research specifically focuses on SWI/SNF (BAF) chromatin remodeling complexes. Perturbation of these complexes has broad relevance to cancer as at least nine genes that encode SWI/SNF subunits are collectively mutated in over 20% of all cancers, making this the most frequently mutated chromatin regulator in human malignancies.

13. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Abraham lab studies gene expression-regulation mechanisms in healthy and diseased mammalian cells. We are recruiting computational biologists to collaboratively develop computational tools and frameworks to analyze high-throughput sequencing (-omics) data. We build analytical software pipelines to find answers to biological questions about gene regulation in big datasets, usually from applied sequencing experiments like ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, and Hi-ChIP. Our interests center on enhancers and super-enhancers. Specifically, we seek to understand how these regulatory elements establish gene expression programs in healthy cells, and how enhancers are altered by mutation, abused by mistargeting, and targetable with drugs in diseased cells.

17. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Kriwacki lab seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PRA) to investigate the roles of biomolecular condensate formation in oncogenesis by fusion oncoproteins using molecular and cell biology methods, and fluorescence imaging approaches. We recently established that many fusion oncoproteins undergo phase separation to form condensates that drive aberrant gene expression or cell signaling (PMC10539325, PMC8983581, doi.org/10.1146/annurev-cancerbio-061421-122050). However, the biophysical mechanisms underlying condensate formation and how condensates alter cellular behavior are poorly understood. This PRA will work in a highly collaborative team environment with biochemists, biophysicists, data scientists and image analysis specialists to address fundamental questions surrounding fusion oncoproteins in pediatric cancers, including leukemias, brain tumors and sarcomas.
