Our group is expanding and we are seeking to fill two post-doctoral positions. We study the functions of human and viral non-coding RNAs in a tumorigenic virus in order to identify pathways instrumental to viral pathogenesis and potentially lead to discovery of novel antiviral and anti-tumor targets. Currently, we are studying the functional significance of a subset of circular RNAs and human genes that are differentially regulated by viral infection. Some non-coding RNA functions of interest include: regulation of infection, immune evasion, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis. A separate project has been using various single cell and spatial transcriptomic approaches to understand viral and human gene expression in diseased tissue of patients with cancer virus malignancies.

12. Postdoctoral Position

A postdoctoral position is available to study the function of mammalian polo-like kinase 4 and 1 (Plk4 and Plk1) that play central roles in regulating various biological events, including centriole duplication, bipolar spindle formation, chromosome segregation, cell division, and proliferation. A postdoctoral position is currently available in a research program focused on a variety of key aspects of HIV-1 assembly, release, and maturation.
