Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The tasks of the MPE within the Euclid project include both instrument development and the operation of a data center where data from Euclid itself but also from several ongoing and future ground-based surveys (EXT), such as Pan-STARRS and DES, as well as data from the Subaru and CFHT telescopes, are processed. Additionally, the German Euclid Data Center contributes to the development of software for the co-addition of imaging data and combining ground-based data with satellite data, as well as extracting the photometry of the combined dataset.
Euclid has highest requirements for the photometric precision of the ground-based data, as they are used for determining photometric redshifts, which in turn are crucial for the success of the mission. We offer a position at MPE for the analysis and monitoring of EXT data quality.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Our research group characterizes small metalorganic complexes, metalloproteins and radical complexes by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. We employ a variety of advanced pulsed EPR techniques, including ENDOR, HYSCORE, and EDNMR to resolve both hyperfine and quadrupole nuclear interactions, informing us further of electronic and magnetic structure, covalency, and ligand identity. Familiarity with these techniques is favored for potential postdoc candidates (but not a requirement, particularly for doctoral candidates). Various potential projects are available, including the characterization of either metalloprotein intermediates, synthesis and characterization of iron-sulfur clusters, or synthesize and characterization of copper biomimetic complexes. Inorganic synthesis experience is preferred for some projects.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Single molecule X-ray scattering experiments with free electron lasers offer a new route to the structure determination of biomolecules. In addition, they hold the potential to not only determine the molecular structure, but also its dynamics. However, computing the structure from such data poses a highly complex mathematical problem, and new theoretical methods and algorithms are required. The main goal of this particular research project is to develop Bayesian methods to determine molecular structures and dynamics. It also offers the opportunity to work with data from the European XFEL facility at DESY and, depending on the interests of the applicant, many possible connections to other research areas like, for example, molecular dynamics or machine learning.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Anion exchange membrane (AEM) and cation exchange membrane (CEM) electrolyzers are promising technologies to generate compressed green H2 at high current densities with a more compact cell design than traditional alkaline water electrolysis. However, so far, understanding about complex gas diffusion electrode – membrane interfaces is limited. Similarly, there exists a large knowledge gap about the impact of the interfacial membrane and ionomer environments on the performance of the HER and OER electrocatalysts and the influence of interfacial membrane electrolyte environments. The latter is not only relevant for AEM electrolyzers being operated with supporting alkaline electrolyte, but also for electrodialysis applications, e.g. for the electrochemical production of pure acid and base solutions from salt solutions.
