Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Dr Shelley Wickham. You will design and characterise DNA-based synthetic cells to study the way cells interact with surfaces under flow. The Wickham group focuses on building molecular tools using DNA nanotechnology to understand and mimic biological systems. Inspired by the way white blood cells roll along blood vessel walls, in this ARC-funded project our goal is to build DNA nanorobots that roll along surfaces in flow. We take a synthetic biology approach to using biomolecules, such as DNA and proteins, to build functional particles and surfaces.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Reporting to Professor Neil Coe in the School of Geosciences, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will assist in the development and undertaking of research projects that examine the regional development issues associated with Australia’s engagement with critical mineral production for the global economy. Informed by Global Production Network thinking in Economic Geography, and cognate approaches to studying global production (e.g. global value chain analysis), the research will seek to explore:

(1) how Australian firms and regions are connected into global production networks for global minerals, and the power, value and geopolitical dynamics that characterise those relations; (2) contestations over land, labour and environment in mineral producing and processing regions of Australia; and (3) the interplay between those two domains and the resultant regional development outcomes.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Dr Shelley Wickham. You will design and characterise DNA and RNA aptamer sensing devices for thrombosis proteins. The Wickham group focuses on building molecular tools using DNA nanotechnology to understand biological systems and build biosensors. This project is funded by NSW Health and the goal is to develop new RNA-based sensors for rapid detection and monitoring of blood clotting.

The NSW Department of Education funded (2021-2023), ‘What’s the Evidence’ (WtE) project aims to provide a process to examine the predictive validity of Teaching Performance Assessments (TPA), in this instance the Assessment for Graduate Teaching (or AfGT). The project aims to disrupt the taken-for-granted measurements of professional standards that focus on teaching by considering representations of teacher quality. The study incorporates four phases making use of distinctively different methodologies. The first phase involved a scoping literature review that explores literature from 2011 to 2021 to provide a list of indicators of teacher quality. This phase is complete with a publication out for review.
