3. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Weinberg ALS Center is looking for a postdoctoral fellow to join its translational research program under the supervision of Dr. Hristelina Ilieva. This program focuses on cell, molecular and biochemical work using bio-fluids (urine and blood), skin biopsy samples and, ultimately, iPSC-motor neurons derived from patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Fronto-temporal Dementia (FTD). The goal is to use these samples as template to (a) identify disease biomarkers and (b) in cases of geneticallylinked ALS of elucidating details of the pathogenic mechanism(s) related to the genetic abnormality. The successful candidate will use several approaches including neuronal cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, advanced microscopy, and analysis of human tissue samples. Experience with stem cells is a plus but not obligatory. Our goal is to take advantage of the postdoc’s existing expertise while allowing growth and development.
