The long-term aim of research in the Lehrbach lab is to better understand proteostasis mechanisms and their roles in aging, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. The fellow will work on individual and collaborative projects that use genetic, genomic, and cell and molecular biology approaches to discover new proteostasis mechanisms and reveal their physiological roles. The primary model organism for this work will be C. elegans, however previous experience with C. elegans is not essential.

The Ring Lab of Synthetic and Systems Immunopharmacology is located within the Translational Science and Therapeutics Division and is a member of the Immunotherapy Integrated Research Center (IIRC). Their primary focus is on developing unique and first-in-class therapeutic drugs for cancer immunotherapy using cutting-edge protein engineering with directed evolution. The Newell Lab is a highly collaborative group within the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The lab focuses on the application and development of novel approaches for studying antigen-specific T cells in the context of cancer and infectious diseases. In addition to leveraging expertise in the use of highly-multiplexed peptide-MHC tetramer staining in conjunction with mass cytometry to deeply profile antigen-specific T cells, novel single cell sequencing and computational approaches are being used that allow for improved examination of T cell phenotypes, function, antigen specificity, as well as T cell receptor repertoire.
