We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellow candidates to join the laboratory of Brett McCray, MD, PhD, at the University of Michigan to lead studies elucidating mechanisms of hereditary neuromuscular disease. Our primary focus is on diseases caused by mutations in the ion channel TRPV4, which result in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2C and related forms of spinal muscular atrophy. In collaboration with Dr. McCray and other members of the laboratory, the fellow will contribute to the design, management, coordination, and implementation of in vitro and in vivo studies focused on defining mechanisms of disease pathogenesis. Specific potential pathogenic mechanisms to explore include the role of TRPV4 in regulating actin cytoskeletal dynamics and the integrity of blood-brain barriers.
