5. Postdoctoral Positions in developing a prototype UK and pan-European CO2MVS

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:

You will help develop a robust Bayesian inverse method to integrate in situ and satellite observations of nitrogen dioxide (NO2), CO, and CO2 to improve emission estimates of fossil fuel carbon dioxide emissions (ffCO2). Addressing this project objective requires accurate knowledge of the NO2:CO2 ratio in the atmospheric column and the NOx:CO2 ratio of the emissions. Since it is computationally too expensive to conduct full-chemistry simulations in an operational global CO2MVS at the scale of emission plumes, a fast and reliable chemistry scheme will be developed that can be used in the lightweight local mass-balance approaches and in the global CO2MVS.

Application Deadline: 10/18/2022

10. Postdoctoral Positions

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:

Long-term infectious and inflammatory conditions, such as chronic rhinosinusitis, are a complex host-pathogen response that is often poorly understood because of the multi-scale nature of the interactions, and numerous physical and biological factors that are involved. This is an opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team of researchers located at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Cambridge to build new experimental and conceptual frameworks required to gain a predictive understanding of such complex systems. You will work on the development of microscopy capabilities needed to study the role of bacterial attachment and growth (including in the form of biofilms) using a model “system” that will replicate the main features of chronic rhinosinusitis in a microfluidic device (including the shape and geometry of the host sinus cavity, as well as viscoelastic properties of the mucus). Time providing the system will include ciliated epithelial cells.
