3. Postdoctoral Position in Political Science in Politics/ Political Economy of Green Transitions

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The postdoctoral fellowship position is a temporary position where the main goal is to qualify for work in senior academic positions. At the Department of Sociology and Political Science (ISS) there is a vacant temporary position as postdoctoral fellow in the politics/political economy of green energy transitions for a period of two years. The position may be ascribed teaching obligations and extended with one year. The position is connected to the research group “Energy, environment and sustainable development”. The Paris and Glasgow targets on global warming are unattainable without a green energy transition. Thus, pursuing such a transition – arguably the greatest process of structural economic change in the energy sector for over a century – is of the utmost importance. First and foremost, we want someone with an independent mind and an interesting project. This is a position where the person who is hired will have great freedom to shape and pursue an independent project.

4. Postdoctoral Position in the HYDROGENi team

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

HYDROGENi is a Centre for environment-friendly energy research (FME) dedicated to the research and innovations within hydrogen and ammonia needed to meet the 2030 and 2050 goals of the Norwegian hydrogen road map. HYDROGENi’s activities are a collaborative effort from Norwegian and European partners (industry, universities, and research institutes) that cover the entire hydrogen value chain. Hydrogen’s role in the energy transition was previously thought to be a “clean” alternative to fossil fuels in cars. However, it can also replace fossil fuels in industrial processes, such as coal in the steel industry, and in the maritime sector. Hydrogen is now considered to be one of the main drivers of the green shift. To realise hydrogen’s full potential, there are important knowledge- and technology gaps that need to be filled.

9. Postdoctoral Position in Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Emerging IoT Applications

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The position is linked to IoT@NTNU, a hub for IoT research at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (IE), coordinated by IES. The project deals with big data, the internet of things (IoT), and artificial intelligence as critical enablers of IoT. In IoT, large volumes of data, often even personal data, are constantly gathered by numerous geographically dispersed sensors and devices, opening up a vast number of application areas that call for new approaches to data processing and inference. For example, concentrating the data at a central processing hub might be unfeasible due to constraints on the energy budgets of the data-collecting sensors/devices, the integrity of data holders, or the capacity of the communication channels. Thus, robust and privacy-preserving distributed or graph-based data processing over networks of machines/agents will be essential for performing data processing in future IoT-based applications. Examples of application areas of interest include but are not limited to, sensor fusion, health, smart cities, Industry 4.0, and environmental monitoring.
