The successful candidate will join the group of Vsevolod Ivanov within the Spectrum Dominance Division at VTNSI, working primarily on projects studying the transport and optical properties of topological materials and computational methods development. The Yan Lab is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate to work on an NIH-funded project involving mitochondrial biology and Alzheimer’s disease. The applicant will contribute to molecular studies in animal models seeking to determine the role of mitophagy in skeletal muscle, heart, and brain. The specific work involves the characterization of our newly generated AMPK knock-in and mitoAIP mice, which includes the assessments of cognitive function, skeletal muscle and heart function, mitophagy, mitochondrial morphology/function, transcriptional and post-translational controls. The candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team of investigators, including exercise physiologists, molecular biologists, and neurobiologists. This postdoctoral position in thermal-fluids sciences is associated with multi-physics modeling in reacting flows involving both computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and pore-network models. This modeling will be used in simulations of wildland fire applications with a specific focus on predicting the burning of firebrand piles and subsequent ignition of structures.
