1. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Nichols Lab at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with interests and research experience in hematopoiesis, stem cell biology or leukemia modeling to carry out projects in cancer predisposition. We are interested in identifying novel genes and genetic variants that contribute to development of cancer and primary immunodeficiency. In 2015, we and others identified germline variants in ETV6, the gene encoding the essential hematopoietic transcription factor ETV6, in families affected by autosomal dominant thrombocytopenia and predisposition to B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). We are now using human and mouse models to decipher how these germline ETV6 variants impact hematopoiesis and promote leukemogenesis.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Immunology postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Bo Hu in the Department of Immunology, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Hu lab investigates immunobiology, immunometabolism, and neuroimmunology, by focusing on the interaction of the immune system and the nervous system and its implications for health and diseases. As the immune system and nervous system are tightly connected to regulate host physiology and pathology, understanding these connections allows us to gain new insights into biological concepts and disease targets. The Hu laboratory will combine advanced cellular and molecular techniques in immunology and neurobiology with genetic-engineering tools, quantitative proteomics, and multiplex imaging systems to interrogate neuro-immune interaction in pathophysiological conditions. Please see the following articles published for additional information: Nature 578 (2020); Science 354 (6313) (2016).

5. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The fundamental goal of our research is to understand how neural circuits control movement. We approach this from multiple perspectives, using cutting-edge technologies to analyze the molecular diversity of spinal interneurons, explore how descending systems in the brain convey information to the spinal motor system, and define the functional roles of spinal interneurons in generating behavior.
Current projects in the lab are highly multidisciplinary, providing candidates with the opportunity to gain extensive training in viral tracing, optogenetics and electrophysiology, whole-brain imaging, single-cell transcriptomics, and quantitative approaches to behavior. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds that would thrive in a highly collaborative, fun, and supportive environment that provides the freedom to independently develop a research project.

7. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
A postdoctoral position is available in the McKinney-Freeman laboratory of the Department of Hematology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Memphis, Tennessee, USA) to study hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) function during chronic hematologic disease. HSCs represent the most therapeutically exploited adult stem cell compartment, used routinely to treat leukemia and hematologic disease via HSC transplantation.
Indeed, HSC transplantation represents the only cure for Sickle Cell Disease, including autologous HSC transplantation combined with gene therapy. Here, our major goals are to better understand how elevated hematopoietic demand and chronic inflammation associated with Sickle Cell Disease perturbs the phenotype and function of HSCs. We employ both genetic mammalian model systems and primary patient samples to pursue these aims.

8. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
A postdoc position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr Daniel Blair which focuses on the automated synthesis and study of protein reactive small organic molecules. A suitable candidate will have a background in synthetic organic chemistry. Experience with automated synthesis or liquid chromatography mass spectrometry is desirable but is not a requirement. The project will be executed in the Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and builds on strong investments into a world-class infrastructure in chemical synthesis and chemical biology. Substantial resources have been deployed within the Blair laboratory to support this project including an automated synthesis machine and fully automated preparative LC-MS.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Gottschalk Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and creative candidate for a fully supported postdoctoral fellowship to develop immune-based therapies. Specifically, the research is aimed to develop T-cell-based therapies for pediatric solid tumors. Studies are focused on using genetic engineering approaches to not only render immune cells cancer specific, but also improve their effector function. Genetically modified immune cells will be studied in preclinical models with special emphasis on how adoptively transferred cells interact with tumor cells, the tumor microenvironment, and resident immune cells. Ultimate goal of these studies is to translate these approaches into early Phase clinical testing.
