2. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Zhou lab, which has a well-established system to study aging mechanisms at the cellular level, recently started to systematically understand how cellular aging leads to organismal aging. We adopt Drosophila as a model system to study how aging hallmarks in different cell types (e.g., neurons) contribute to organismal aging. In addition to powerful genetics in Drosophila, we leverage an array of cutting-edge techniques, encompassing advanced imaging methods, behavior screening, biochemistry, and machine learning, to assay physiological aging.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The BHHI will use strategic science to derive evidence-based practices and policies to prevent and end homelessness. Strategic science is a way to conduct research that creates a reciprocal relationship between the researchers and those who act upon it—policymakers, practitioners, and those living with homelessness. Those who act upon research (“end users”) play a major role in developing the research agenda. In strategic science, researchers work together with these end users to identify high priority questions and identify which of these require new research.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The research laboratory of Prof. Rada Savic (https://pharm.ucsf.edu/savic) in the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences at UCSF is engaged in groundbreaking drug development projects for Global Health including infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV, and malaria, as well as pain management and autoimmune disease with a focus on identifying optimal treatment regimens. We develop and apply disease models, perform pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic evaluations, build physiology-based pharmacokinetic models, conduct exposure-response analyses, and utilize model-based simulations with the ultimate goal of optimizing treatment in adult, and pediatric and other special patient populations. To this aim, the Savic Lab collaborates with clinical and preclinical leaders within the field, as well as with federal and international global health partners, private foundations, and with pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The main goals of our research are to develop new models of neurodegenerative diseases and to identify new therapeutic targets. We study the function of proteins that are associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and Parkinson’s disease (PD) and involved in RNA processing, autophagy, and lysosomal biology. We routinely generate human excitatory neurons from cultured stem cells and incorporate neuropathology approaches. The Mordes Lab is part of the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases and the Weill Institute for Neurosciences.

10. 02 Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The focus of the Kapahi Laboratory is to identify and characterize the mechanisms by which nutrients modulate aging and age-related diseases. This is being achieved by using an interdisciplinary approach combining genetic, pharmacological, biochemical, and genomic approaches in invertebrate model systems C. elegans, D. melanogaster, and mammalian cells. The broader significance of this research is to help uncover the role of nutrition in the etiology of age-related human diseases like diabetes, obesity, and neurodegeneration. You will join a highly collaborative group and the ability to be a collaborative team member is a key expectation. The position is ideal for candidates who want to transition to academia and write a K99. Strong mentorship and support to write grants will be provided.
