The Lefkowitz lab is currently seeking an innovative, inventive, and determined Postdoctoral Associate. The Lefkowitz lab has a longstanding interest on the elucidation of the molecular properties and regulatory mechanisms controlling the function of G protein-coupled receptors. As model systems we utilize the so-called adrenergic receptors for adrenaline and related molecules. The goal is to learn the general principles of signal transduction from the outside to the inside of the cell which are involved in systems as diverse as sensory perception, neuro- transmitter and hormonal signaling. Studies are performed with isolated protein, whole cells in culture and even in vivo in whole animals.

6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Associate within the lab of Dr. Kim Orth at UT Southwestern Medical School location. The Orth lab is interested in deciphering molecular mechanisms used for signaling by the host and pathogen. We are interested in elucidating the activity of virulence factors from pathogenic bacteria so that we can gain novel molecular insight into eukaryotic signaling systems. In the past, we have discovered mechanisms such as Ser/Thr acetylation, AMPylation, irreversible actin assembly, bacterial phosphoinositide-binding domain mimics, and pore-forming V-ATPase inhibitors. The marine bacterium Vibrio parahaemolyticus is the worldwide leading cause of seafood-borne acute gastroenteritis.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are currently seeking an innovative and self-driven Postdoctoral Associate to work within the lab of Dr. Michelle Wang, Professor of Physics, J.G. White Distinguished Professor in the Physical Sciences, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Investigator at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. The Wang lab operates at the intersection of physics and biology – pioneering single-molecule techniques to investigate DNA mechanics and topology of fundamental biological processes and theoretically modeling these processes using statistical mechanics and thermodynamics.

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work within the shared lab of HHMI Investigator Dr. Tobias Walther and his scientific partner Dr. Robert Farese at Sloan Kettering Institute/Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. The Farese & Walther Laboratory studies the mechanisms of lipid metabolism, storage and homeostasis. The lab uncovers the biochemical, physical and cell biological principles that cells use to store lipids and to determine how lipid balance and storage are maintained. The lab also studies how processes of lipid storage affect physiology and disease.

12. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Mendell laboratory is located in the Department of Molecular Biology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. We are a diverse group of passionate scientists investigating broad questions in RNA biology. In particular, we are interested in understanding how genes are regulated post-transcriptionally, how noncoding RNAs such as microRNAs and long noncoding RNAs participate in these regulatory pathways, and how these pathways go awry in human disease. We use a variety of approaches and model systems to address these questions including high-throughput screens, animal modeling, and mechanistic studies including structural biology. We are seeking additional laboratory members who share our passion for RNA biology and are enthusiastic to join our tight-knit team.

13. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

This position is available in the lab of Dr. Kara Marshall in the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. The lab will study mechanisms of internal mechanosensation in health and disease. Sensory neurons that detect mechanical force are critical for a variety of physiological processes, like blood pressure regulation, digestion, and urination. The lab uses genetic mouse models and a wide range of techniques, including microscopy, calcium imaging, physiological measurements and behavioral testing to identify how the peripheral and central nervous system encode mechanical cues and to understand how they impact physiology and behavior.
