9. Fully Funded PhD Position in applied and computational mathematics

Summary of PhD Program:

This project proposes a new method for reconstructing 3D structures of molecules from cryo-EM images using generative models. Existing models such as AlphaFold 3 and Chroma contain a wealth of valuable information about molecular structures but can also hallucinate. By instead using these models as prior distributions in a Bayesian framework, we combine information from two different sources (generative models and cryo-EM) to construct more reliable 3D structures.

13. Fully Funded PhD Position in Oxygen based pulping from wood

Summary of PhD Program:

Pulp production from wood is one of the most central processes for producing renewable raw materials that can replace fossil resources such as petroleum. To enhance the role of the forest industry as a carbon sink, it is crucial to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from pulp production. One promising strategy to achieve this is to expand the use of oxygen delignification, so that it can replace all or part of the conventional chemical pulp production process. Preliminary results suggest that high-quality pulp can be produced this way, while also generating a valuable by-product, oxylignin.
