Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Post-doc will lead and participate in clinical research projects about spine surgery and function as a vital team member in a spine outcome lab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Department of Neurosurgery. Responsibilities will include project management, patient recruitment, data collection, data cleaning, data analysis, statistical testing, literature review, manuscript preparation, and abstract preparation. The applicant should ideally hold an MD in hopes of applying in neurosurgery residency in the next 2-3 years. The position is expected to be a minimum of 2 years. The Post-doc will work under Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, Dr. Scott Zuckerman, a spine surgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery.

The Pan Lab is dedicated to revealing how atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease develops and identifying therapeutic targets for the disease. Smooth muscle cells play a pivotal role in promoting atherosclerosis. They can change their identity to other cell types in the disease and contribute to the largest cell population within disease lesions. The current focus of the lab is on investigating how smooth muscle cells and their interactions with various cell types, such as endothelial cells, macrophages, and T cells, drive the progression of atherosclerosis.

5. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Choi Lab studies basic and pre-clinical research projects to understand mechanisms of carcinogenic transition in gastric carcinogenesis. The Choi Lab is a multiple (NCI and DOD) funded gastric cancer research laboratory and uses novel in vivo mouse models and in vitro organoid models which are unique in the gastric cancer field. We aim to define biological mechanisms of carcinogenic transition from pre-cancerous cells to cancerous cells. We also seek to develop novel therapeutic approaches to prevention of gastric cancer development and identify novel druggable targets for patients with high-risk pre-cancer and/or cancer.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Mechanisms of Addiction and Psychopathology (MAP Lab) directed by Dr. Ashley L. Watts in the Department of Psychology at Vanderbilt University is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral research fellow. The lab’s research program focuses on sources of heterogeneity in addiction, and the mechanisms responsible for its comorbidity with other forms of psychopathology (see a general description here). In particular, the MAP Lab is interested in bringing on a postdoctoral research fellow that would contribute to the lab’s research on phenotypic, genetic, and otherwise neurobiological sources of heterogeneity in alcohol addiction. The High Energy Nuclear Physics group at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Vanderbilt University, is inviting applications for the postdoctoral position. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in high-energy nuclear or particle physics and have demonstrated experience in data analysis/simulation/phenomenology studies and computational proficiency in C++ or Python. The Vanderbilt group is a member of the sPHENIX collaboration at RHIC (Brookhaven National Laboratory), the CMS collaboration at the LHC (CERN), the ePIC collaboration at the upcoming EIC, and the theory/experiment JETSCAPE/XSCAPE collaboration. The group, comprised of Profs. Vicki Greene, Julia Velkovska, Raghav Kunnawalkam Elayavalli, Yi Chen, and Jean-Francois Paquet have made significant contributions to the study of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) with detailed investigations of collective phenomena, hydrodynamic flow, jet-medium interactions, and jet substructure.
