4. Postdoctoral Position in Diabetes Research

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Pamela Itkin-Ansari to study proinsulin protein-protein interactions in diabetes. We are investigating the hypothesis that alterations in the proinsulin interaction network play a role in Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) stress and beta-cell failure. The position is based on our recent studies in Diabetes, ELife, and JCEM. The long-term goal of this project is to develop a novel paradigm for improving ER function and proinsulin trafficking in beta-cells to prevent or ameliorate diabetes.

5. Postdoctoral Position in Degenerative Diseases

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to study the role of the unfolded protein response (UPR) in AD-associated neuroprotective pathways. The candidate will use a combination of mouse genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, proteomics, and high throughout sequencing technologies to characterize molecular pathways associated with UPR genes in neurodegeneration. The candidate will test whether genetic and pharmacological targeting of UPR-components can prevent proteostatic dysfunction and restore cognitive and synaptic function in pre-clinical models of AD.

6. Postdoctoral Position in Alzheimer’s disease

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Dr. Timothy Huang’s laboratory focuses on understanding how mutations in cell surface proteins such as TREM2 and SORLA can alter neuronal and microglial function. Recent work from our group established a role for SORLA in protecting synaptic function in the presence of Aß (J Exp Med 214: 3669, 2017) as well as enhancing neurite outgrowth (J Neurosci 40: 5908, 2020). The Huang lab also established an ESC-based human microglial modeling platform to determine how AD-related mutations in TREM2 and SORLA can affect microglia behavior and function (J Exp Med 217(12): e20200474, 2020).

7. Medical Research Scientist in Cell Biology

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We have an immediate opening for a highly motivated PhD cell biologist to join our group and study one or more Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG). These inherited and de novo disorders have muti-systemic presentations ranging from neurological and developmental delay to primordial dwarfism. Our NIH-funded laboratory studies multiple aspects of CDG including discovery and validation of entirely new disorders, exploration of their molecular basis and identification of potential therapies. As a member of a national CDG consortium of researchers, physicians, and family support groups, we have extensive interactions and collaborations with all. CDG families often visit our laboratory.
