2. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Space Science Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Research position working on simulation, modeling, and systematics mitigation for the Advanced Simons Observatory (ASO). ASO builds upon the telescopes deployed for the Simons Observatory and seeks to refine and automate instrument characterization, data processing, and public data releases. The successful candidate will work to identify, model, and simulate important instrumental effects that limit our ability to extract cosmology results from Simons Observatory data. They will also contribute to efforts to account for these effects in automated data reduction processes. This position requires working with Julian Borrill, Reijo Keskitalo, Ted Kisner, and other personnel at U.C. Berkeley and within the larger ASO collaboration.

3. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to work collaboratively with a research team to design and model radio antennas that meet the specifications of the EIGSEP experiment. The candidate will also be assisting with experiment design, data analyses, and the preparation of research for publication. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher will play a lead role in the supervision of young research participants. Furthermore, they will be responsible for organizing and leading field deployments for testing antenna performance against simulations.

5. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The UC Museum of Paleontology (UCMP) seeks applications for a postdoctoral scholar in the area of Participatory Science Outreach and Education, at 100% time with an expected Fall 2024 start. The UCMP is a research unit on the UC Berkeley campus and its mission is to investigate and promote the understanding of the history of life and the diversity of the Earth’s biota through research and education. UCMP has a long history of developing online educational resources for broad audiences including the Understanding Evolution, Understanding Science, and Understanding Global Change websites.
The FieldScope Project, led by BSCS Science Learning in collaboration with scientists at UC Berkeley, is developing a map-based data collection platform for supporting community and citizen science projects across the country to engage in making sense of environmental data. This work is funded by a 2-year grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.

6. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Postdoctoral Scholar will be part of Berkeley’s O’Donnell Center for Behavioral Economics and Finance, housed jointly in the Haas School of Business and the Department of Economics. The center’s mission is to support rigorous academic research in various areas of behavioral economics, including all areas of applied microeconomics, financial economics, macro-finance, political economy, public economics, and health economics. We also pursue research in collaboration with researchers in neuroscience, cognitive science, and medicine. Ulrike Malmendier and Stefano Della Vigna, both joint faculty members at the Haas School of Business and the Department of Economics, co-direct the center.

7. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Department of Plant & Microbial Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Employee in the Mary C Wildermuth Lab, in the area of Plant-Microbe Interactions. The Wildermuth Lab at UC Berkeley studies plant-microbe interactions interrogating both sides of the interaction to uncover fundamental processes that dictate the success of an adapted pathogen on a given host.
The Wildermuth Lab developed the methodology and a high throughput pipeline to silence powdery mildew genes and evaluate their efficacy in limiting powdery mildew proliferation on the plant host. Powdery mildews are obligate biotrophic pathogens that cannot be cultured and have incomplete or missing core metabolic pathways as they have evolved to acquire those compounds from the host. Powdery mildew fungi colonize diverse hosts including grapevine.

8. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Postdoctoral employee will work on a National Institute of Mental Health project titled “Narrowing the mechanistic gap for anterior prefrontal cortex function”. This project targets the lateral aspect of anterior PFC, a brain region whose anatomy in humans is not clearly defined and whose fundamental role in cognition is poorly understood. At a descriptive level, aLPFC is involved in higher-level cognitive abilities such as planning, multi-tasking, reasoning, memory retrieval monitoring, and decision-making. Seeking to investigate its function at a more granular level via fMRI, structural MRI, and diffusion-weighted imaging on the 3 Tesla and 7 Tesla scanners at the Brain Imaging Center at UC Berkeley.

9. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Guthrie Lab within the Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley, seeks postdoctoral scholars to investigate the role of small molecules from human microbiomes in kidney biology. The Guthrie lab aims to decipher the basic biology, sources of heterogeneity, and opportunities to modulate diet-derived microbiota-dependent metabolites (MDMs) for beneficial host signaling. We use computational methods and mass spectrometry to quantify MDMs and molecular techniques to investigate their function in vitro and in vivo.
