1. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The UC Berkeley Kavli Center for Ethics, Science, and the Public (the Kavli Center) is a multi-disciplinary academic center that aims to break down the barriers that separate the sciences, humanities, and the public from each other; providing an inclusive, multi-disciplinary framework for understanding the ethical implications of science and technology, training the next generation, and helping scientific advances be answerable to fundamental human interests. The center comprises three elements: a “hub,” representing the core activities of the center, where all affiliates come together to address fundamental ethical questions across disciplinary boundaries; “spokes” linking these activities to specific scientific disciplines; and an “axle” connecting the center with the larger society it sits within.

3. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Space Science Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Research position working on simulation, modeling, and systematics mitigation for the Advanced Simons Observatory (ASO). ASO builds upon the telescopes deployed for the Simons Observatory and seeks to refine and automate instrument characterization, data processing, and public data releases. The successful candidate will work to identify, model, and simulate important instrumental effects that limit our ability to extract cosmology results from Simons Observatory data. They will also contribute to efforts to account for these effects in automated data reduction processes. This position requires working with Julian Borrill, Reijo Keskitalo, Ted Kisner, and other personnel at U.C. Berkeley and within the larger ASO collaboration.

4. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Berkeley Psychophysiology Laboratory (BPL) at the University of California, Berkeley is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar, directed by Robert W. Levenson, Ph.D. The BPL laboratory personnel currently include eight full-time staff members, one postdoctoral, two graduate students, and a large team of part-time research assistants. BPL conducts research on human emotion using behavioral, self-report, neuroimaging, and psychophysiological methodologies. Current NIA-funded research projects focus on emotional changes that occur in dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases and risk factors for health declines in dementia caregivers. BPL is currently involved primarily in new data collection but also in working with previously-collected archival data.

7. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Postdoctoral employee will work on a National Institute of Mental Health project titled “Narrowing the mechanistic gap for anterior prefrontal cortex function”. This project targets the lateral aspect of anterior PFC, a brain region whose anatomy in humans is not clearly defined and whose fundamental role in cognition is poorly understood. At a descriptive level, aLPFC is involved in higher-level cognitive abilities such as planning, multi-tasking, reasoning, memory retrieval monitoring, and decision-making. Seeking to investigate its function at a more granular level via fMRI, structural MRI, and diffusion-weighted imaging on the 3 Tesla and 7 Tesla scanners at the Brain Imaging Center at UC Berkeley. Close collaborators on the project include Associate Professor Kevin Weiner (functional neuroanatomist) and Adjunct Professor David Feinberg (MR physicist) at UC Berkeley.
